ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 3, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Bill Carpenter enjoyed a distinguished career, most recently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) in Rochester, NY, from 2011 to 2023. In this role, he led a team of over 900 employees, providing innovative mobility solutions, including fixed-route bus services with a 400-bus fleet, micro-transit, bike-share, and scooter services. Under his leadership, RGRTA became a national leader in zero-emission fleet transitions.
During his tenure, Carpenter served as president of the New York Public Transit Association, leading advocacy efforts resulting in a significant increase in state operating aid. Additionally, as President of The Bus Coalition, he spearheaded national advocacy efforts culminating in the largest increase in federal transit funding as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. He's also held leadership roles at the American Public Transportation Association, where he remains actively engaged.
