NEW YORK, July 10, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Anonybit and Armatura Expand Strategic Partnership to Meet Rising Demand for Secure Biometrics in India and Middle East
Long time identity and access management (IAM) industry veteran, Sachin Ratta appointed as Anonybit Strategic Advisor to help meet rising demand for privacy-preserving biometrics in a region facing surging fraud and evolving data protection standards
New York, NY and New Delhi, India – July 10, 2025 – Anonybit, the pioneering platform for privacy-first decentralized biometrics, today announced that Sachin Ratta has joined the company as a Strategic Advisor, supporting the company's expansion into India and the Middle East. A longtime sales leader in the identity space, Ratta will guide Anonybit's regional go-to-market strategy, channel development, and strategic partnerships.
In addition to his role at Anonybit, Ratta will retain his position as Global Sales Manager for Armatura, a leading developer of multi-technology IAM hardware and software solutions. Armatura manufactures biometric palm readers and complete standalone reader controllers, biometric camera modules affixed (or embedded) into existing third-party hardware enclosures, and biometric matching algorithms.
Prior to joining Armatura, Ratta held sales and project management roles at biometric giant Idemia and NEXT Biometrics, where he led large-scale government and enterprise identity deployments. Today, he works with some of the world's largest payment processing, fintech, proptech, and time and attendance developers who are all incorporating touchless biometric technology to enhance both security and convenience for their respective consumers around the world.
Frances Zelazny, Co-Founder and CEO of Anonybit said, "We've already seen significant demand for our decentralized approach from Indian enterprises, and bringing Sachin on board with his wealth of expertise in biometrics is the perfect move at the perfect time. I'm incredibly excited to welcome him to the team."
"India has shown tremendous leadership in the application of biometrics, and we are eager to help unlock even more use cases in a responsible, privacy-oriented way," Zelazny added.
A Moment of Opportunity—and Urgency
India is home to the largest biometric identity system in the world. With over 1.3 billion Aadhaar enrollments, biometric modalities such as fingerprint, iris, and face have become deeply embedded in everyday digital interactions—from banking to telecom to government services.
However, this success story is not without its challenges.
While Aadhaar is often used for onboarding and KYC, it has unintentionally fostered a false sense of security post-login, leading many organizations to rely on SMS and OTPs for ongoing authentication. This gap has contributed to a in the first half of this fiscal year alone and the challenge extends into other verticals like fintech, telco, critical infrastructure and more. Sophisticated attackers are exploiting help desks, social engineering and weak authentication protocols to hijack accounts—even those tied to biometric identities.
Anonybit's privacy-preserving biometric infrastructure addresses these vulnerabilities by enabling strong, multi-modal authentication across the user lifecycle without ever exposing raw biometric data. Its patented decentralized architecture stores templates in a fragmented, distributed form, eliminating centralized honeypots and securing the authentication process from end to end. Critically for the Indian market, where Aadhaar has already normalized the use of multiple biometric modalities, Anonybit supports face, fingerprint, iris, and palm, and can be applied to deduplication, passwordless login, step-up authentication, account recovery, physical access, payments, and other identity workflows.
"India's investment in digital identity has been truly visionary," said Sachin Ratta. "But to scale safely, the ecosystem needs secure infrastructure that protects users at the core of their interactions with banks, telcos and other enterprises. I believe Anonybit's decentralized approach is exactly what the region needs to meet growing fraud threats, changing OTP requirements and evolving privacy laws."
Similar in substance to the GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), passed in 2023, has raised the bar for how personal and biometric data must be handled, further accelerating demand for privacy-enhancing technologies like Anonybit.
